Block Cookies

What are cookies?  Cookies are small files which are stored on a user’s computer. They are designed to hold a modest amount of data specific to a particular client and website, and can be accessed either by the web server or the client computer.  To block cookies from Google Chrome; go to your Web Browser Google Chrome
Choose ‘Settings’ on the ‘parallel bars’ button (or the ‘Customize and control’ menu), and click ‘Show advanced settings’ at the bottom of the screen. In the ‘Privacy’ section, click on the ‘Content settings…’ button then click the ‘all cookies and site data’ button. You will be shown a list of all websites which have stored cookies on your computer. Selecting a website allows you to see the cookies, and selecting a cookie shows you the data stored in it. Cookies are text files that hold the time and date that you visited a website, your on-line purchase information, your passwords and even; your banks online Id’s and passwords.  Most cookies do not originate from the web site that you are visiting but instead from Marketing companies who may be managing the banner ads that display on a particular site.  The Marketing Companies use their Cookies to create detailed profiles on consumer who select ads on their client sites.

How to block pop-ups?

Turn pop-ups on or off:

On your computer, open Chrome.

At the top right, click More.

Click Settings.

At the bottom, click Show advanced settings.

Under “Privacy,” click Content settings.

Under “Pop-ups,” select an option: Do not allow any site to show pop-ups (recommended)

Why is this important?  Sites can capture your information when you click to open a Pop-up, they can also plant viruses on your computer.


How to clear your temporary Internet Folder?

This folder stores Cookies that sometimes are dated for years and resides on your computer.  This folder also stores your visited sites, your passwords. Delete the contents of this temporary folder to keep your privacy regularly.

Below are the steps required to clear the browser cache on a PC using Chrome:

Step 1: Click the Wrench icon located in the upper right corner of the browser window, followed by Options.

Step 2: Click Under the Hood on the left side panel.

Step 3: Click the button labeled Clear browsing data on the top of the page.

Step 4: Choose the beginning of time from the drop down.

Step 5: Make sure that Empty the cache is selected and click Clear browsing data. 

Step 6: Close and restart the web browser.

How to clear your Internet History?

If you don’t want a record of which websites you’ve visited using Chrome, you can delete all or some of your Chrome browsing history. Deleting your browsing history will take effect on all devices where you’re signed in to Chrome.

Delete All your web history

Your History page shows the websites you’ve visited on Chrome in the last 90 days. It doesn’t store pages from secure websites, pages you’ve visited in Incognito mode, or pages you’ve already deleted from your browsing history.

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More .
  3. Click History History.


  1. On the left, click Clear browsing data. A box will appear.
  2. From the drop-down menu, select how much history you want to delete. To clear everything, select the beginning of time.
  3. Check the boxes for the info you want Chrome to clear, including “browsing history
  4. Click Clear browsing data.



Incognito Mode

Privacy mode or “private browsing” or “incognito mode” is a privacy feature in some web browsers to disable browsing history and the web cache. This allows a person to browse the Web without storing local data that could be retrieved at a later date.
